Public Speaking for Geeks

"Wayne is a very unique individual. I have never met anyone who could prepare and perform a top drawer demo including discussing the technology in its full technical detail in the morning and have a superior management/ROI/business strategy discussion with the CEO in the afternoon. No one has more energy than Wayne."... Brad Morley, board director, engineering software market
Public Speaking for Geeks
Public Speaking... for many, the ultimate fear. Learn how to deliver your presentations with energy, enthusiasm, and credibility... and at the same time being comfortable with yourself and with your audience. Learn how to connect, whether to a handful of prospective customers or to an audience thousands strong.

The Public Speaking for Geeks workshop is conducted over a one day period with an optimal class size of 15-to-20 active "hands-on participants" (technical and sales), plus optionally a handful of "observers". Each attendee will perform a presentation several times "live" in front of the audience (instructor, other attendees, and video recording). The audience will then provide supportive reinforcement and constructive critique. Repetition and peer pressure, with progressively larger audience size (and pressure), are important to drive home and then refine the key techniques. Participating also as an audience member is important in helping the attendee "see things from the audience perspective". The "Objection Handling" module continues the same format of lecture followed by "live audience" experiences (starting gentle and becoming more challenging) for each attendee.

Preparation and Logistics for Workshop

One or more standard presentations already known by the attendees should be selected as the basis of this workshop. The content of the presentation itself is not all that critical (after all, what we're after here is to focus on "how" we present, not "what" we present). The presentation should be 5-to-10 minutes in length and available well in advance to the attendees. A copy of the presentation should be provided to WAMware in advance of the workshop.

Each attendee must rehearse one of the standard presentations thoroughly in advance of the workshop. From experience, this means at least 10 times successfully through the presentation, including a good anticipation of possible questions and objections.

In most client situations, the one-day Presentation Skills Workshop will be repeated several times back-to-back, either in different cities or with different participant groups.
